Launch Marketing Partner
We’re hiring our first marketing partner at BuildQuest — individual operator or tight team — to help shape brand DNA before launch and scale it for years after. This is a long-term partnership, not a launch-and-leave engagement. The right person becomes part of how we build.
Three structural shifts, all at once.
The residential construction industry is at an inflection point. Three things are happening simultaneously that change what’s possible.
AI is rewriting consumer discovery
Google search volume is plateauing for the first time in its history. Homeowners increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude when planning major decisions. The search-and-aggregator model that built Houzz and Angi is structurally shifting.
The referral-platform model is collapsing
Pro fatigue is real. Broken unit economics are real. A generation of design and construction professionals view lead-gen platforms with weary contempt.
Premium service expectations at an all-time high
And almost nothing in the current residential construction landscape meets them. Homeowners planning $100K–$2M projects expect more than the industry knows how to deliver.
Someone will build the homeowner-first incumbent in this space within the next 24 months. We intend it to be us. The marketing partner who joins now helps decide what that brand becomes.
Marketing is the gap.
We have a real SaaS platform in active development. A serious engineering team. A UI/UX and product lead. An advisory board with deep tech backgrounds. The product is in good hands.
What’s been founder-built and now needs a marketing partner is the public-facing marketing layer — brand voice, story, creative, distribution, infrastructure.
You’ll work directly with Bill (founder) and Clint (UI/UX + product). Small core team. No layers. No politics.
What you’d be doing
Own the brand’s creative voice and visual output
Narrative, copy, hook points, mockups, ad creative, collateral. You write the words and visualize the work. Clint runs UI/UX and product design; you run marketing design.
Architect and execute launch and lifecycle systems
Waitlist, beta, pro recruitment, soft launch, retention, expansion, referral. The full arc — not just the funnel top.
Polish or revamp the founder-built marketing assets
Websites, social presence, email infrastructure. Keep what works; rebuild what doesn’t.
Amplify and systematize founder-led content
Build the systems around Bill’s podcast (59 episodes and growing), book, and 30+ years of expertise that scale his authority without burning him out.
Build for AI-era discovery (GEO/AEO)
Not just traditional SEO. The brands that show up inside AI-generated answers are the brands homeowners will trust in two years.
Architect the marketing stack
CRM, automation, analytics, content workflows. You propose, we discuss, you implement.
A storyteller who builds systems.
The required capabilities, in order of how heavily we weight them.
Creative voice and copy
This role lives or dies on storytelling. You take 30+ years of construction expertise and turn it into stories homeowners feel and pros trust. You write hooks that convert. You design educational content that earns trust by genuinely teaching. You think in hook points and architect messaging around them.
Visual design fluency
You bring concepts to life visually — mockups, ad creative, social posts, video concepts, marketing collateral that’s already designed when it hits the table. Fluent in Figma, Canva, AI design and video tools. You produce finished-feeling work without waiting on a designer.
Sector experience
U.S. home improvement, real estate, or residential design/construction — or proven ability to go deep on a complex category fast, with portfolio evidence.
0→1 launch experience
You’ve shaped brand positioning from scratch and taken products through pre-launch → public phases.
AI-era discovery (GEO/AEO)
You build for presence inside AI-generated answers, not just search results pages. Not optional for a 2026 launch.
Distribution-first thinking
Content abundance isn’t the constraint anymore. Distribution is. You’re judged on reach and engagement, not output volume.
Lifecycle marketing
Acquisition, activation, retention, expansion, referral, win-back — the full arc.
Modern, AI-augmented practice
AI-augmented workflows that deliver real productivity gains. Show how a single operator or tight team delivers what used to take ten people.
Analytics, stack architecture, systems thinking
Expert-level analytics. Reusable workflows. You build marketing that compounds.
- Two-sided marketplace experience — chicken-and-egg, geographic clustering, network effects
- Vertical SaaS marketing
- Founder-led content systems — you’ve built repurposing and distribution around a founder’s voice
- Performance marketing (Meta, Google, LinkedIn)
- Podcast and long-form content optimization
- Conversion rate optimization
A small team building something serious.
BuildQuest is a SaaS marketplace built to solve the chronic broken process in residential construction — from both sides at once. Homeowners served first. Pros served better than any referral platform ever could.
30+ years in residential design and construction. Author of The Awakened Homeowner. Host of Your Home Building Coach podcast (59 episodes and growing). Built Quinn, BuildQuest’s AI guide, and the content workflows behind the platform’s knowledge base.
Owns product design, design system, marketing website design. Long-time collaborator. The marketing partner’s closest day-to-day teammate.
A serious engineering team building the BuildQuest platform on a modern stack. Mostly indirect collaboration with the marketing partner — surfaced through Clint.
Former Apple designers and CTO-level technology leaders. People who have built and shipped products that millions of people use.
“I respect expertise and I don’t second-guess craft. The partner brings me finished thinking and finished work; I react, we refine, we ship.”
— On working with marketing partnersYou propose the shape.
We’re intentionally not specifying fixed hours, retainer amounts, fee structures, or budget. Tell us how you’d engage with BuildQuest at this stage — solo or tight team, time commitment, model, stack, run-rate. We’ll figure out terms together.
What we commit to: direct access to the decision-maker, real creative latitude, portfolio rights, and a serious engineering and design team behind the work.
Send us something real.
Before applying, read the BuildQuest Marketing Manifesto — it captures how we think about marketing in this category and this moment. Candidates who reference it directly will be evaluated more favorably.
Send your application to wwreid@buildquestmedia.com with:
- Cover letter 300 words max. Your reaction to the Manifesto (1–2 principles that resonate, 1 you’d push back on or refine); your sector experience; how you operate as a modern, AI-augmented marketer.
- Writing sample One piece of writing you’re proud of — landing page, email sequence, long-form post, ad campaign, brand narrative. The one that best represents your voice and craft.
- Visual sample One piece of marketing design work you’ve produced — ad creative, social, landing page mockup, video frame, marketing collateral.
- Portfolio (2–3 examples) A 0→1 brand or launch you’ve shaped; a modern marketing workflow you’ve built; a positioning framework you’ve developed. Bonus for home improvement, real estate, marketplace, or ConTech/PropTech work.
- Stack & approach The marketing stack you’d propose for an early-stage two-sided SaaS; your view on AI-era discovery (GEO/AEO); default tools; approximate monthly run-rate cost.
- Engagement proposal Solo or tight team, time commitment, model, indicative fees, 90-day approach, long-term perspective.
- Three references Preferably from B2B/B2C SaaS engagements; at least one able to speak to modern, AI-augmented capabilities.
Optional but valued: short Loom video (2–3 minutes) introducing yourself; example of a workflow you’ve shipped.
- Initial call with Bill (30 minutes) — fit, background, sector experience, Manifesto reaction
- Take-home exercise (finalists only) — brand audit, positioning hypothesis, 90-day approach, stack recommendation, AI-era discovery move, and a 200-word creative sample
- Working session with Bill + Clint (90 minutes) — present the exercise, discuss thinking, share visual samples
- Reference checks
- Engagement negotiation and offer
